A man entered a village and went to see Sufi Master. The visitor said " I'm deciding whether i should move here or not- and i'm wondering what people here are like?" The Sufi Master said "Tell me, what kind of people live where you come from". The visitor said " They were robbers, cheats and liars". The Sufi Master said " You know, those are exactly the same kind of people who live here". The visitor left and never come back. Another visitor entered the village and asked the same question of the Sufi Master. "I'm thinking of moving here- can you tell me what the people are like?" Again the Sufi Master asked, "Tell me, what kind of people live where you come from?" The visitor said " Oh, they are the kindest, gentlest, most compassionate, loving people. I shall miss them terribly". The Sufi Master said " Those are exectly the kinds of people who live here too.."
Why the Sufi Master asked that kind of question? Was that a pre-screen test for the visitors to 'qualify' as the villagers? If the first visitor comes from a corrupt society, will it make him a corrupt person as well ? Or how the Sufi Master can ascertain that the second visitor is less evil than the first one?
This is a perception. People are always make an assumption and the worser part is that ,some of them can easily jump to the conclusion and barely verify the dark side of the others without concurring on a reasonable juxtaposition. My understanding on the morale of the story, the bright Sufi Master wanted to know what kind of person the visitors were like. Their answers were actually reflected their perception towards others and the kind of their relationship with the surrounding people. One cannot put a blame on the corrupt society since it is the people who created the problem which lead to the corrupt society.
If you feel apart from the society where you're belong to, then you must haven't contribute any idea on how to overcome the chronic situation. Be whatever profession you are in, whatever titles you hold, be it followers, be it leaders, you must contribute your part. Don't ever think that there must be other person who cares about your future. You are the one who determine your future and what kind of society that you want it to be for the future generation.
So, why some people are getting really annoyed upon critism? Some people felt really threatened so they had to resort to a detention without a trial in order to preserve the country from a security threat! Just because somebody criticised a lot... i think this is absurd.
